Top 5 Original Disney Channel Films

Original Disney Channel films were and always will be a favourite of mines.

These are just a few of my many favourites.

  1. High School Musical
High School Musical (2006), Directed by Kenny Ortega.

Two completely different teens, Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) and Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Hudgens), meet at a winter party where they’re forced into singing together. After exchanging numbers, they don’t expect to see each other again but they soon discover they now attend the same school. Gabriella fits in with the academic students whereas Troy is the average basketball jock however this doesn’t stop them from trying to be together.


2. Get a Clue

Get a Clue (2002), Directed by Maggie Greenwald Mansfield.

Lexy (Lindsay Lohan), is a privileged twelve-year-old who writes for her school’s newspaper but when a teacher from her school goes missing she sets out to solve the mystery. Get a Clue follows her on her journey to rescue her teacher.


3.  Camp Rock

Camp Rock (2008), Directed by Matthew Diamond.

Mitchie Torres (Demi Lovato) desperately wants to attend a rock camp but is only allowed if she works in the kitchen. When Shane Gray (Joe Jonas), a teen pop star, overhears her singing he sets out to find the mystery girl however Mitchie must confront her fears and step out of the kitchen.


4. Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior

Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior (2006), Directed by John Laing.

A young teenager named Wendy Wu (Brenda Song) has a dream of becoming Homecoming Queen. When a monk tells her that she is a Yin Warrior, she passes it off, but soon realises that she’s destined to protect the world from evil and she must learn how to become a warrior to win the coveted crown.


5. The Cheetah Girls

The Cheetah Girls (2003), Directed by Oz Scott.

The Cheetah Girls are a girl group consisting of four teenagers that are trying to make it with their music, first trying to become the first freshmen in their school to win the talent show. They meet a producer who tries to make them superstars however many problems face them on their journey.
